Newcastle International Airport celebrates its three millionth passenger in 2022
On 26th September 2022, Newcastle International Airport celebrated its three millionth passenger since the start of the year.
To mark the milestone, the Airport surprised a lucky passenger, Anne-Mette Haaland, and her partner with a £75.00 voucher for the Airport’s World Duty Free whilst they were checking in for their Loganair flight home to Stavanger, Norway.
Chris Ion, Aviation Development Manager at Newcastle International Airport, said: “This huge milestone is a reflection of the strength of the Airport’s recovery since travel restrictions were lifted which is supported by our airline partners’ continued investment in the region and testament to the work and dedication of employees across the business.
“This year, the Airport has continued to deliver positive experiences for passengers, including ensuring 98% of passengers pass through security in 6 minutes or less.
“We look forward to welcoming even more passengers with Loganair and our other airline partners for the remainder of the year. As we look ahead to the winter season, Newcastle International Airport will have its biggest ever winter sun programme to the Canary Islands and new city break options, including Barcelona, Cork, Milan and Riga with Ryanair. The Airport will also see a broad portfolio of direct flights to Europe’s most popular ski resorts which is bolstered by easyJet’s recommencement of flights to Geneva - a destination already served by TUI and Jet2.com.”
Loganair, one of Newcastle International Airport’s 16 airline partners, provides excellent connectivity from the region to the South of England and Norway.
Luke Lovegrove, Chief Commercial Officer at Loganair, said: “It is an honour to share this milestone celebration with Newcastle International Airport, reflecting the resilience of the industry since travel restrictions were lifted.
“Loganair is proud to contribute to the Airport’s large international reach and be able to connect North East passengers to the South of England, including Exeter and Southampton.”
The airline currently offers up to four flights a week to the fourth largest city in Norway, Stavanger, and year-round flights to Exeter and Southampton. The airline has also recently announced the return of twice-weekly flights to Bergen in Norway and Newquay Cornwall for summer 2023.
Passengers can enjoy a 15kg of luggage allowance with the airline. To book, please visit loganair.co.uk
